Start at the source and follow the signal path. Every quality sound system has three basic elements: source, control and playback. The source components selected depend on the formats being used to access music at home. To exploit the variety of high quality sources available, it is obviously essential to be able to choose from and access many sources. The control is the heart of a hi-fisystem and determines how many sources can be accessed, how they can be exploited to do justice to their full potential and the ways to control, play, record and distribute the music.
The sound playback system includes the loudspeaker, the active or passive crossover system and the power amplifiers. Every chain, including the hi-fichain, is ultimately only as strong as its weakest link. With any source, improvement to the control or playback elements of the system can improve the sound quality, but the very best performance can only be achieved by optimising source quality
